Bernard Cornthwaite's Obituary
Bernard Dean Cornthwaite, 84, of Macon passed away on Friday March 10, 2017 in his home.
Dean was born on March 15, 1932 in Decatur the son of Bernard I. and Viola (Wentz) Cornthwaite. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army and was a retired Carpenter Local #742. He was also a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. He enjoyed dancing both ball room and square dancing. He also enjoyed woodworking and was a master model maker. He married Jacqueline Krekel on March 17, 1951 in Decatur.
Surviving are his wife Jackie; son, Mark Cornthwaite (Marcia) of Clinton; daughter, Lynette Puckett (Joseph) of Moweaqua; grandchildren, Benjamin Cornthwaite (Carolynne) of Harrisburg, PA; Amy Roehrig (Eric) of Heyworth; Nicole Normington of Lexington, KY; Jeremy Puckett of Moweaqua; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Richard Cornthwaite, and sister, Margie Workman.
The family would like to thank St. John’s Hospice especially, Bethany for all their care of Dean.
Service to celebrate Dean’s life will be at 10 AM Wednesday, March 15, 2017 in Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Decatur. Visitation will be 5-7 PM Tuesday, March 14, 2017 in the church. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park with military honors conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to St. John’s Hospice or Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church building fund.
