Bernice M. Craig's Obituary
Decatur-Bernice M. Craig, 94, of Longmont, CO died September 21, 2013 at Life Care Center of Longmont.
She was born December 23, 1918 in Appleton, Wisconsin to Julius and Minnie (Gardebrecht) Pfeiffer. She graduated from Crandon High School in Crandon, Wisconsin. Following high school Bernice worked in Chicago as a house maid.
On June 10, 1941 she married Gilbert Craig in Kahoka, Missouri. They lived in many places during the years Gilbert was with the US Army. Returning from duty in Germany in 1958 they settled in Decatur, Illinois where she made her home for 46 years. Bernice moved to Longmont in Sept of 2005 to be near her family.
She worked 21 years as a sales clerk for Woolworths, retiring in 1983.
In Decatur she was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
Bernice was an active volunteer for many years at Decatur Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed bowling, golf and swimming at the YMCA pool.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gilbert in 1967 and son James in 2012. Bernice was the last surviving member of 11 Pfeiffer children having been preceded in death by 6 brothers and 4 sisters.
Bernice is survived by one son Joe (Kathy) Craig of Aurora, CO, daughter-in-law Donna Craig of Longmont, granddaughter DeAnna (John) Anderson of DeLand, Illinois, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service will be held 1:00PM Saturday, September 28, 2013 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery.
