Bert "Pete" H. Sturgis' Obituary
Bert “Pete” H. Sturgis, Sr. 79, of Decatur, passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2020, at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Pete was born December 8, 1940, in Decatur, IL and the second son of Lee Owen and Etta Maxine (Smith) Sturgis. He was a graduate of St. Teresa High School Class of 1958. He attended Millikin University and worked at Mueller Company for 7 years. Pete was Captain of the Decatur Fire Department for 31 years. He owned and operated Sturgis Home Improvement for 25 years. Pete was also an avid golfer.
He is survived by his three children, Bert H. Sturgis, Jr. of Decatur, Teresa Lee (Chris) Sims of Bethany, IL and Laurie Ann (Butch) Burnett of Forsyth; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Lee O. Sturgis, Jr.
