Bette Isabel Livesey's Obituary
Bette Isabel Livesey, 94, of Decatur, passed away on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Lincoln Christian Village in Lincoln, IL.
Funeral service will be 12:00 PM, Thursday, April 12, 2018 at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time. Private family burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
Bette was born July 11, 1923, in Warrensburg, IL, the Daughter of Harold F. and Dorothy (Ferry) Batchelder, both deceased. She was united in marriage to Ancil A. (Bud) Livesey, Jr on December 13, 1941 in St. Charles, MO. He preceded her in death in November of 2001.
Bette graduated from Decatur High School in 1940 and Brown’s Business College. She obtained her first job as a legal secretary for attorney Gus Greanias.
Bette was a homemaker while her children were young and later returned to the workforce as a secretary and then as a realtor. She was passionate about dancing and spent many evenings dancing with Bud. She credited dancing for her good health. Bette’s hobby was entering contests and sweepstakes; she won many trips, appliances and cash. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, and the DMH Auxiliary.
Bette is survived by her children, Steven of Palos Heights, IL and Linda (Terry) Parker of Warrensburg, IL; grandchildren: Charles Parker (Jeannie) of Mt. Zion; Kristen Parker-Clark (Sean) of Sugar Grove, IL; Tracey Thurman (Jason) of Groveland, IL; great-grandchildren: Gavin, Ethan, Logan and Adrienne Parker; Jackson, Andrew, and Evan Clark; Carsten and Kipten Thurman.
Bette was preceded in death by her parents, husband and grandson, Edward.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church or the Decatur Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
