Betty Mae Beesley's Obituary
Betty Mae Beesley, 83, of Decatur, passed away Monday October 29, 2012 at Imboden Creek Living Center.
Betty was born in Decatur on April 30, 1929, the daughter of Sylvester C. Bowman and Viola (Hott) Bowman. After graduating from Stephen Decatur High School she moved to Washington, D.C., to work for the Navy Department. In 1955, she returned to Decatur and worked for A.W. Cash Company. On February 16, 1960, Betty married William Beesley and moved to Detroit, Michigan. They and their daughter, Sandra, moved many times as he was moved by his company. In 1989 they made their final move to Decatur from St. Louis so that they could take care of Betty’s parents. Betty’s mother died in 1990 and her father in 1993. Betty and Bill had decided to stay in Decatur after they were no longer needed and did so.
The greatest thing that happened was moving into the Wildwood area and next door to Tom and Joy Madsen. They have been a God send to us. No matter what we might need they provided. We have a great church with helpful loving people and fine neighbors. We would like to thank the staff at Imboden Creek and Harbor Light Hospice for their outstanding care.
Betty is survived by her husband, William Beesley, son in law, Roger James, daughter Sandra Sue James, grandson, David James, grand daughter, Stephanie Pekala, and great grandson Logan James.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother John Bowman
Services to celebrate Betty’s life will be 11:00 AM Monday, November 5, 2012 in the Star of Hope Chapel, in Graceland Cemetery, with Rev. Randy D. McGeehon officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour before the service at Star of Hope. Memorials may be directed to Elwin United Methodist Church.
