Betty H Bohlen's Obituary
Greensboro ' Betty Holmquist Bohlen, 91, passed away April 14th, 2011 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital.
A 2:00 PM memorial service was held Sunday, April 17th at West Market Street United Methodist Church in Greensboro. The family will receive friends afterwards in the Gathering Space. There will be a graveside service at Fairlawn cemetery in Decatur, Illinois, 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 23, 2011.
Betty was born February 4th, 1920 to the late William George Holmquist and Elsie Webb Holmquist in Decatur, IL. She worked with Burlington Industries in Greensboro for 20 years, retiring in 1985. She was a member of West Market Street United Methodist Church for over 50 years and an active member of the first Couples Class. Betty was a member of DAR, Colonel Arthur Forbis Chapter, as well as Daughters of American Colonists. She was also a member of the Earl of Shaftesbury
Chapter of the Colonial Dames of the 17th Century and the O. Henry Women's Club. An avid Bridge player and accomplished needle worker, she also enjoyed sewing and knitting. She was a generous and loving aunt to her nieces and nephews as well as their children. Betty also loved travelling extensively with her husband.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, James Albert Bohlen. Additionally, she is preceded in death by a sister, Kathryn Holmquist Bohlen.
Survivors include Rosellen Bohlen, Kathryn Bohlen, Marilyn Bohlen Simpson, Robert Bohlen, Virginia Bohlen Miller, Susan Bohlen Bryant, Christopher Bohlen, Greg Bohlen, James Bohlen and Patricia Bohlen Fellman, all of whom are Betty's nieces and nephews.
