Betty Jean Church's Obituary
Decatur- Betty Jean Church, 89, of Decatur, was called home by the Lord on 2:07 a.m. Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at Decatur Memorial Hospital with her family at her side.
A service to celebrate the life of Betty will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 4, 2011 at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home, visitation from 9:00 a.m. till the time of the service. Interment with “Flight Home” ceremony will be at Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Decatur, Illinois.
Betty was born March 29, 1922 in Decatur, the daughter of Raymond and Alberta (Tanzyus) Kellogg. Betty was active in the Eagles Lodge 507 in Decatur, Illinois and was past Madam State President. Her career spanned over 60 years in the floral design business. She began as a teen at her parent’s shop Kellogg’s Florist and included McManus and Betty and Bob’s. She married Carl Lee Church in Illinois; he preceded her in death May 22, 1951.
Betty leaves behind her daughters, Sharon L. Roy and husband Dean, and Barbara Mast both of Decatur, fourteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and thirteen great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and two daughters, Carol Mendenall, and Patricia Foster.
