Betty Earlene Farrow's Obituary
Betty Farrow gained her heavenly wings Feb 21st, 2025. She was born Nov 24th, 1959, to Gerald and Rheta Mahaffey. She was the second of four children (all daughters). Betty attended Mt Zion High School where she was a star athlete, participating in basketball, volleyball, and track, until she graduated in 1977.
She married Dennis Farrow Feb 11th, 1978, at the South Shores Christian Church. They celebrated 36 years of marriage. Betty was a member of the First Church of God in Lovington IL. She loved her church family and was proud to be a member.
Betty was employed with Kroger as the drug gm manager of Mt. Zion Kroger for over 20 years. When Betty joined Kroger, she just didn't join a team; she joined a family. She loved being part of the Kroger family and working with Sharon, Angie, and Sherry.
Betty loved gardening. She had a green thumb and could grow anything. She enjoyed evenings in her swing with her diet Pepsi and her three fur babies, Max, Levi, and Sophie. Her Friday and Saturday mornings were spent going to garage sales. It was at these sales where she developed an unhealthy addiction to cookie jars. She had over 100 in her collection and was very proud of it. She was always eager to show them off and talk about her newest one.
Betty was loved by everyone who came in contact with her. She was an amazing woman and is now a beautiful angel.
Betty is survived by her children Patricia (Jeff) Ellis, Steve (Nichole) Farrow, Melissa Farrow, and Elizabeth (Clayton) Quick; grandchildren Dalton (Shivani) Quinlan, Conner & Emma Ellis, Brayden & Corey Ellis, Kameron & Gavin Farrow, Benjerman & Noah Riggs, and Logan, Conner, and Matthew; and great-grandchildren Arielle, Lucas, & Faith.
Betty was known as GiGi to her great-grandchildren. They were always excited to see her. She is also survived by her sisters Debra Welton, Penny Wakeland, & Jeanne Robinson. (The sister shenanigans were never a well-kept secret, but the memories will forever live on.) Also surviving are brother-in-law Lynn Franklin; and many cousins and friends.
Betty was escorted to the heavenly gates by her husband, parents, mother and father-in-law, sister-in-law and 3 brothers-in-law, Jerry, Tony, and Mark.
Mom, we love and miss you. Thank you for everything you have taught us through life. Until we meet again, may you find peace in Heavens hands.
