Betty Harris' Obituary
Betty Darliene Harris, 85, of Decatur, IL, passed away on Friday (06-13-2025) at Tanglewood Village after a short battle with cancer.
Betty was born on May 6th, 1940, in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Charles Fuqua and Edith (Dick) Fuqua. She married Larry Ray Harris on August 9th, 1964, in Decatur, IL.
Betty was a member of First Baptist Church, Decatur, IL. She enjoyed traveling, boating, word puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, 50’s and 60’s music and meeting once a month for dinner with her girlfriends from MacArthur High School Class of 1958. Betty’s favorite thing to do though was to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband Larry, of almost 61 years; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, sister-in-law- Judy Madding and husband Jerry and special friends David and Donna Thorpe.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, one son Michael R. Harris and one daughter Mindy S. Morris.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday (06-25-2025) at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service time. The burial will be at Mt. Zion Township Cemetery, Mt. Zion, IL.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, American Cancer Society, or donor’s choice.
