Betty J. Kozar's Obituary
Betty Jean Kozar, age 88 passed away on Sunday December 16th, 2012 at Decatur Memorial Hospital after a short illness.

Betty was born to Helen and James Earl Johnson in Tulsa OK on November 11, 1924. As a small child the family moved to Moberly MO where she attended public school. She met Mathew Kozar while attending Moberly Junior College and they were married on June 12, 1943 in Manhattan KS. At retirement they moved to Yuma, AZ where they worked with Southern Baptist Missionaries teaching, setting up food pantries, and help starting churches. This lasted 21 years until the death of Matt in 2005.
After her husband's death, she moved to Decatur, IL and lived with her daughter Judy and husband Karl. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Decatur.
Betty is survived by her daughter Judy (Karl) Hauffe of Decatur, Laura (Jim) Hunt of Elizabethtown, KY, and sister, Georgia Corell of Texas. Sister in law Darlene Johnson of MO, Grandchildren, Lisa Dotson (Laine) of Kansas City, MO, Shannon Beiler (Richard) of Decatur, Mary Shin (Chang) of Overland Park KS and Scott Barten (Tracy) of AZ. She leaves 14 Great-Grandchildren, 1 Great-Great Grandchild and many beloved nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband Matt of 63 years, brothers, James Earl (Boy) Johnson Jr., Glenn C Johnson, and a granddaughter, Anita Elizabeth Miller.
The family wishes to thank Hickory Point Christian Village 'Haven House' staff and nurses for their loving care of our mom. Also thanks to DMH Palliative Nurses who helped with her care. Memorials may be directed to Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
