Betty J. Thompson's Obituary
Betty J. Thompson, 74, of Decatur, passed away Monday, February 18, 2019, at Heritage Health in Mount Zion.
Betty was born April 22, 1944, in Decatur, the daughter of Victor and Goldie (Sims) Stafford.
She is survived by her husband, C.W. “Duck” Thompson; three sons, Tim (Karen) Callahan of Olathe, KS; Gary (Michelle) Thompson of Trenton, IL; and Mark (Diana) Thompson of Lewisville, TX; two sisters, Margaret Stafford-Vaughan and Shirley Stafford-Long; six grandchildren, Kelsey Davies, Olivia, Malcolm, and Michael Callahan, Kara and Kaylee Thompson. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, John Daniel Callahan, and a brother, George Stafford.
Betty graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1962. She was a beautician for over 50 years in Decatur where she owned her salon. She was a devoted Christian where she attended Maranatha Church and First Christian Church in Decatur. She loved to host family gatherings. She had quite a collection of Raggedy Ann and Andy Dolls.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 22, 2019 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will take place from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Harbor Light Hospice or to the American Cancer Society.
