Beverly June Reed's Obituary
Beverly June Reed, 83, of Decatur, passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2019 in Generations at McKinley Court.
Beverly was born July 8, 1936, in Decatur, the daughter of Floyd Albert and Harriett Kirkwood Reed Whennen. She graduated from Decatur High School and attended Illinois State University. She retired from Millkin (now Regions) Bank. She loved the Indiana Fever, Illinois Women’s basketball, Green Bay Packers and the St. Louis Cardinals. She actively played women’s fast pitch softball. She enjoyed volunteering as treasurer of Old Kings Orchard Community Center and Grace United Methodist Church Economy Shop as well as teaching Sunday School classes at her church. She volunteered wherever she saw a need at Grace United Methodist Church where she was a member for 75 years.
Surviving are her brothers, David (Karen) Reed of Decatur and Thomas (Sharon) Reed Sr. of Waterloo, Iowa; her sister-in-law, Carol Reed of Decatur; her nieces and nephews, Patrick Reed, Suzy Dodwell, Kathleen Dudley, Crystal Reed, Shayla Nystrom, Thomas Reed, Jr., Matthew and Brian Reed; and Erin Stiles; great nieces and nephews, Chelsea Patterson, Craig Dodwell, Sydney, Ashley, Braden, Keegan, and T.J Nystrom, Lily Reed, Gryphon and Viviana Dudley.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, her brother, Larry, and her companion, Rosemary Scribner.
A Celebration of Beverly’s life will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 30, 2019 at Grace United Methodist Church, 901 N. Main St., Decatur, IL. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. A private burial will be held at a later date in Fairlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church or to Old Kings Orchard.
