Bill D. Buckley's Obituary
Billy “Bill” Dale Buckley, 84, of Decatur, was called to be with his heavenly Father Friday, July 22, 2011 in the Illinois Veterans Home, Quincy where he was a resident.
Bill was born December 1, 1926, in Decatur, the son of Alma A. Buckley and was married to Betty Corrine Waddell for 54 years. He enlisted in the Navy during WWII at the age of 17 and worked for A.E. Staley before retiring.
Bill was a diehard Cardinal fan and avid fisherman who spent many summers in Minnesota and Canada fishing with his family. He also loved watching his grandkids play baseball in the summers. When he able he was active in his church and believed in salvation thru Jesus Christ.
Bill is survived by 2 sons: William G. “Bill” (wife, Ramita) Buckley of Safety Harbor, FL, and Kevin (wife, Debi) Buckley of Mt. Zion; grandchildren: Tara (husband, Larry) Tuch, Jason (wife, Mindy) Buckley, and Cody (wife, Jessica) Buckley; great grandchildren: Madison, Sammy and Grayson; sister, Elaine Brosco.
Bill was preceded in death by his mother; son, Jeffrey and eight brothers and sisters.
Bill was loved and will be missed by those he left behind.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 29, 2011 from 9:30 a.m. until the service time of 10:30 a.m. in the Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home, Pastor Rachel Hacker officiating. Interment with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials gifts may be made to: Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
