Billie Darlene Heinkel's Obituary
Billie Darlene Heinkel, 87, of Decatur, passed away Sunday, May 7, 2017, at Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Florida.
Billie exemplified Proverbs 31 and was the hands and feet of Jesus, humbly caring for the needs of her family and friends. Her legacy is immeasurable and will never be forgotten. She derived joy from the Lord, her family and the smiles of the children in her life. She made us all better because of who she was…a wife, mother, grandma, GiGi, aunt and friend.
Billie was born April 24, 1930, in Decatur, IL to Max and Leona (Martin) Augustine. She married Erwin Donald Heinkel on August 6, 1950, in Decatur. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
She is survived by three sons, Dennis (Debra) Heinkel of Decatur, IL, Jeffrey Heinkel of La Mesa, CA and Mark Heinkel of Mt. Pulaski, IL; one daughter, Gail (Walter) Yuras of Oklahoma City, OK; five grandchildren, Jaime (Erik) Wenberg, Natalie (Tom) McCarthy, Wesley (Paulina) Heinkel, Bryan (Ashley) Yuras, Angela (James) Surber; two step-grandchildren, Billy (Tracy) Chandler and Steve Solis; ten great-grandchildren, August, Wren, Lucian, Isla, Olivia, Mac Erwin, Cormac, Marshall, Warren and Brittney; sister-in-law, Helen Heinkel of Decatur; and her beloved dog, Herbie.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Erwin; daughter-in-law, Christine Heinkel.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Billie D. Heinkel will be 10 a.m. Friday, May 12, 2017, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 11, 2017, at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to St. Paul’s Lutheran church or donor’s choice.
