Billie K. Powell's Obituary
Decatur – Billie K. Powell, 85, of Decatur, passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2016 in Hickory Point Christian Village.
Billie was born March 3, 1931 in Mansfield, IL, the daughter of Arthur Otis and Inez Minnie Alice (Whitehurst) Brooks. A member of Grace United Methodist Church, Billie worked as an inspector at Lehn & Fink in Lincoln. Billie was the longest active member at Curves and enjoyed her time there. In fact, she was in the gym just a few weeks ago. Billie was also extremely passionate about Ballroom Dancing. She greatly enjoyed spending 20 some years dancing with her special friend, Jack Hurley. Billie was married to William Earl Sarver who preceded her in death. She later married Donald Paul Powell who also preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her parents, 2 sisters and dance partner, Jack.
Surviving are her children: Cindy Schaal and Mark (Lorri) Powell of Decatur; 4 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren with one on the way, and 1 great-great granddaughter; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In honor of Billie’s wishes cremation services will be provided by Graceland/Fairlawn Crematory. Graveside services will be 10 am, Thursday, August 18, 2016 in Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Grace United Methodist Church.
