Billy Joe Benscoter's Obituary
Maroa- Billy Joe Benscoter, 73 of Maroa passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Billy was born on September 27, 1938 in Mason City, IL the son of Harry Harold and Edith (Fewell) Benscoter. He was a member of the Show Stopper Car Club and was retired from Illinois Central Rail Road. He served his country proudly in the US Navy. He married Binnie Woods on April 13, 1958 in Las Vegas, NV.
He is survived by his wife Binnie; sons, Hugh Harold Benscoter (Patti) of Roswell, GA; Chad Edwin Benscoter of Maroa; daughters, Crystal S. Bragg (Chris) of Mt. Zion; Rena L. Williams of Edwardsville; grandchildren, Michael Wheeler (Shelley) of Maroa; Angela Wheeler of Dwight; Billy J. Benscoter and Joey Benscoter of Roswell, GA; Parker Williams and Brittney Williams of Edwardsville; Ashley Benscoter and Caitlyn Benscoter of Maroa; great-grandchildren, Matthew Wheeler, Jason Wheeler, Gabrielle Wheeler, Lathan Hicks, Madison Hicks all of Maroa; six nieces and four nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and five brothers: Harry, Don, Jack, Kenny, and Tommy, and a son, Billy Joe Benscoter Jr.
Visitation and car show will be 1-2:00 pm Monday, January 16, 2012 in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. A memorial service will begin at 2:00 pm with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard and conclude with the 'Flight Home' ceremony. Memorials are suggested to the Show Stopper Car Club.
