Billy M. McPheron's Obituary
Decatur – Billy M. McPheron, Sr., 81, of Decatur passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2016 in Fair Havens Christian Home.
Bill was born May 3, 1935 on the family farm in Argenta, the son of Earl and Bernice (Arnott) McPheron. He enjoyed auctions, camping, fishing, hunting, travelling in the motorhome with his wife and spending time with his family and friends. He married Norma Jean Etherton on March 5, 1955 soon after they built their home together and they celebrated 61 years of marriage.
Bill worked various jobs and retired from Kelly Group in 1997.
Surviving are his wife Norma Jean; son, Billy M. McPheron Jr. (Brenda) of Decatur; daughter, Belinda McLaughlin of Decatur; son, Brett McPheron (Gayl) of Blue Mound; grandchildren, Ty Penny of Dillsburg, PA; William M. McPheron (Janelle) of Easton; Phillip D. McPheron (Melissa) of Blue Mound; Brad D. McLaughlin (Tiffany) of Decatur; great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Landen, James, Hunter, Kayleigh, Cordelia, Brody, Will, and Allie; sister, Marjorie Michener of Argenta; many special nieces, nephews, and a host of wonderful friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, one brother, twin granddaughters, and one grandson.
Special heartfelt thank you goes to South Wheatland Fire Protection District, Fair Havens Christian Home staff, Decatur Ambulance Service, St. Mary’s ER, 4th, 6th and 7th Floors, Decatur Public Transit, and Safe Haven Hospice for all their care of Bill.
The Parkinson’s disease won the battle but he gave it his all. Rest in peace, our love now and forever.
Funeral service to celebrate Billy’s life will be 10 am Wednesday June 15, 2016 in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 5-7 Tuesday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the South Wheatland Fire Protection District or Fair Havens Christian Home in his memory. The family requests casual attire.
