Billy Carlyle Porter Jr's Obituary
Billy Carlyle Porter, Jr, 67, of Decatur, passed away on November 29, 2020 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, surrounded by his family.
Billy was born November 17, 1953 in Taylorville, the son of Billy C. and Marian Jeanette Davis Porter, Sr. Billy married Connie Watkins on January 26, 1973 in Lovington. Connie survives. Billy is also survived by his mother: Marian Bryant; son: William (Jamie Zientara) Porter of Decatur; daughters: Marian (Mark) Eckart of Decatur; Bilinda (Kelley Woodard) Porter of Decatur; grandchildren: Cierra (Koleton) Howell, Wade, Shaylee, and Skylar Davis; 7 great-grandchildren; several siblings also survive. Billy was preceded in death by his father, and step-father Lyle E. Nichol.
Billy was the owner of Porter & Company, General Contractors. He was previously the plant supervisor at Kelly Potato Chips. He also worked at ADM for a number of years. He enjoyed fishing, spending time with family, telling stories, and working. His great-grandchildren were his pride and joy, with his first great-grandson being named after him.
A celebration of Billy’s life will be held at a later date. Cremation rites have been accorded to Billy. The family has entrusted Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home, Decatur with funeral arrangements. Please view his obituary, and share memories and condolences at www.gracelandfairlawn.com
