Bonnie Coventry Stern's Obituary
Bonnie Lee Trudeau Stern, 70, of Decatur, passed away June 21, 2021 at St. Mary’s Hospital.
Bonnie was born on October 9, 1950, the daughter of Madonna (Miller) Fort. After graduation from Stephen Decatur High School, she worked for Local 159 as a nuclear density tester for highways. Bonnie loved the outdoors and spent many happy hours fishing and tending to her flowers. She also loved to spend quality time with her children and grandchildren.
Bonnie is survived by her daughters Jo’Ell (Keith) Harris of Grandville, Michigan and Jennifer Stern (fiancé Arthur Binder) of Decatur; sisters Donna Barker, Patty Barton, and Cindy Dowdell; grandchildren Devon (Jonathan) Losch, Dane Harris, and Sydney Harris; many nieces and nephews; and lifelong friend Sharlene Hemmerlein. She was preceded in death by her mother, brothers Rolland Trudeau and Sonny Trudeau, sisters Joyce Middleton and Sylvia Hargrove, and grandsons Damon Harris and Dominic Harris.
Funeral service for Bonnie will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, June 25 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 1:00pm prior to the service. Cremation services will be provided by Graceland/Fairlawn Crematory Services. The service will be livestreamed at www.funeralvue.com/long/event#56069. Burial will be at Mt. Gilead Cemetery at a later date. The family encourages those wishing to offer a memorial to donate blood to the Red Cross in memory of Bonnie’s battle with leukemia.
