Brenda Lou Powell's Obituary
Decatur – Brenda Lou Powell, 68, of Decatur, passed away in her home in Decatur, Illinois on Thursday, October 5, 2017.
She was born March 31, 1949 in Kankakee, Illinois to Armond and Regina (Dion) Brosseau. Brenda worked in accounts payable at Christy-Foltz and was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Decatur where she was in the rosary making ministry.
She is survived by her loving husband, Robin Powell, whom she married on September 2, 1998 in Hawaii; her children Aimee (Todd) Craft, Todd Guimond, Ronda Guimond, Jodi (Steve) Ledeboer, and Casey (Matt) Ogden and stepson Charles (Anna) Powell. She was blessed with ten grandchildren: Nathan, Lauren, Jordyn, and Nicholas Craft, Emily and Madison Guimond, Grace and Jack Ledeboer, and Madelyn and Kaitlyn Ogden and two sisters: Janice (Ralph) Sims and Barbara Brosseau both of Bradley, Illinois.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents.
She will be welcomed into God’s Kingdom being remembered for sharing the fun of Christmas lights, her love for San Diego, and the first to call to sing happy birthday. She was a strong woman who battled bravely and served as a wonderful example to the testament of courage, support and love. She was a faith-filled woman who always looked for the presence of God’s whether it be while at the ocean or laboring in the garden and flowers that she loved. She will be greatly missed but remain in the hearts of many.
Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Brenda’s life will be 11 am, Tuesday, October 10, 2017, in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Rev. Richard Weltin, celebrant; visitation will be one-hour prior in the church. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to EWTN, 5817 Old Leed Road, Irondale, AL 35710.
