Brian A. Carney's Obituary
Decatur-Brian A. 'Poncho' Carney, 41, of Decatur, departed this life December 17, 2011 to be with the Lord.
Services to celebrate Brian's life will be 12 noon Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at St. Peter's AME Church, 515 South Church Street. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment with 'Flight Home' Ceremony will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the wishes of the family.
Brian was born September 7, 1970 in Decatur, the son of Iverson and Freda (Warfield) Carney. Educated in the public school system, he was a 1989 graduate of Stephen Decatur High School. Brian accepted the Lord at an early age and was a member of St. Peter's AME Church, active in the Youth Lay Organization, and sang in the church choir. He was a member of the youth branch of NAACP and he had a strong love for his family. Brian was married to Tiffany Green. From this union, two children were born. He was the proud and loving father of Tahja and Tyrese Carney.
He leaves behind his daughter Tahja, son Tyrese, parents Iverson and Freda Carney, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He was reunited in Heaven with his paternal grandparents Robert Edward and Geneva Jane Carney, and maternal grandparents George Thomas and Jessie Pauline Warfield.
