Burrell "Bud" Beatty's Obituary
Burrell “Bud” Boston Beatty, Jr.,88, of Decatur, passed away Monday October 23, 2017, at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Bud was born July 20, 1929, in Springfield, IL to Burrell Boston and Effie (Pallow) Beatty, Sr. He married Sharon Wilson on November 11, 1962, in Decatur. Bud worked for AM Multigraphics his entire career while also serving in the Army National Guard. He was a retired Colonel in the Illinois National Guard and served as Commandant of the Military Academy in Springfield. He was a member of MOAA, the Lions Club, and the Decatur Gun Club. He loved golfing, hunting, traveling, skeet shooting, but most of all, spending time with his grandchildren, his family and his dog, Lily.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sharon; his daughter, Kelly (David) Gasior of Johnsburg, IL; his four grandchildren, Lindsey, Julia, Sophie and Andrew; and his step-brother, Morris Jolly of El Paso, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one beloved son, Burrell “Trey” Boston Beatty III.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Bud Beatty will be 2 p.m. Friday, October 27, 2017, at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Friday before the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Wounded Warrior Project PO BOX 758516 Topeka, KS 66675.
