C. Eugene "Gene" Oldfield's Obituary
Forsyth- C. Eugene Oldfield “Gene”, 83, of Forsyth, passed away Friday, April 3, 2015, in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Gene was born January, 1932, in Decatur, IL the son of Clarence and Bertha (Kondritz) Oldfield. He proudly served our country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict 1952-1954. Gene retired from Wagner’s Casting Company as a pattern maker for many years. He married Phyllis A. McCay in Decatur on September 24, 1952. Phyllis preceded him in death on October 30, 2004. Gene was a Pilgrim Lutheran church member. He was an avid Cubs fan, loved yard work, wood working, and taking care of his three daughters.
Surviving is his three daughters, Cynthia (A.J.) Schuster of Forsyth, Rebecca (Jerry) Fear of Warrensburg, Leslie K. (Mark) McCarty of Cerro Gordo; sister, Ila Lee (Jack) Patton of Decatur; grandchildren, Alex (Kelsey), Chelsie (Ashley), Rachael (Chris), Christopher, Haylee (Tim); two great grandsons, Michael and David, aunt Frieda Funk, a host of nieces and nephews, and many other extended family, also his kitty, Skittles.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Oldfield, parents, and grandson, Timothy John Fear.
Services to celebrate Gene’s life will be 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 in Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 2155 N. Oakland Ave. Decatur, IL, 62526. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery and conclude with military honors conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard.
