Carol Ann Grider's Obituary
Decatur – Carol Ann Grider, 64, of Decatur passed away of complications of ALS on Thursday morning May 15, 2014 in St. Mary’s Hospital.
Services to celebrate Carol’s life will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Visitation will be Monday, May 19, 2014 at the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home from 5-8pm. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park. Memorials donations may be directed to ALS research, University of Indiana Neurology Department.
Carol was born August 4, 1949 in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Donald Duane Perkins Sr. and Mary Frances Perkins (Sharpes). She married David Grider on February 1, 1969 in Decatur. They shared 45 years of loving marriage together. She loved riding motorcycles with David, fishing, enjoyed baking cakes, bowling with her bowling leagues, and spending time with family. She worked as a dedicated medical transcriptionist for St. Mary’s Hospital with 47 years of service. She was a member of the Prairie Avenue Christian Church Disciples of Christ, a vice president and secretary of National and Illinois Chapter Certified Medical Transcriptionist, served on the Health Care Documentation Advisory Committee with Richland Community College, and a Girl Scout Leader.
Carol leaves behind her husband David Grider of Decatur; mother Mary Frances Perkins of Decatur; sons, Jamie (Tracy) Grider of Decatur, IL, Jason Grider of Enid, MS; Daughter, Nicole Mary Ann Pavia of Round Rock, TX; brothers, Donald (Mary Lou) Perkins Jr. of Lakeville, MN, Mark (Cindy) Perkins Cedar Rapids, IA; sisters, Karen (Micheal) Kitchens of Decatur, IL, Mary Jo (Kenny) Wrigley of Decatur, IL; grandchildren: Angela, Alek, Emily, Alli, Morgan, Colin, Lillian, and Adalynn; aunts: Ann Doyle of Decatur, IL, Sandy Carmean of Madison, WI, and Virginia Pasley of Oreana, IL; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her father, Donald Perkins Sr., and uncles, Bill Good, Earl Pasley, Donald Doyle .
