Carol Mae Groves' Obituary
Decatur-Carol Mae Groves, 63, of Decatur, passed away at 8:20 a.m. Friday, August 14, 2009 at OSF St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Bloomington with her family by her side.
Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Carol’s life will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 2160 N. Edward, with Father James Palakudy celebrant. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday, August 17, 2009 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home with a vigil prayer service at 5:45 p.m. Interment with Flight Home Ceremony will be at Macon County Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Scleroderma Foundation, Diabetes Foundation, or the Susan G. Comen for the Cure. Carol was born December 1, 1945 in Decatur the daughter of Gerald A. and Loretta M. (Fleming) Stanley. She was an accountant that worked at several places in her career including St. Thomas Rectory and SAIL. She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church. She enjoyed bingo, knitting, sewing, and cake decorating. She married Arthur “Bud” Grant in 1963, later they divorced. She then married Jack Edward Groves February 27, 1993 in Jacksonville, Illinois. He preceded her in death February 8, 2004.
She leaves behind her son; Duane Grant and wife Syndie of Clinton, daughter; Tina Gentry and husband Ken of Springfield, stepdaughters; Jacqueline Genaust and husband Dennis of Effingham and Cheryl Locey of Watson , grandchildren; Heather Grant, Melissa Grant, Hope Grant, Karena Snow, Zachary Snow, Weston Grant, and Mikayla Grant, step-grandchildren; Thad Genaust, Amanda Genaust, and Ryan Locey and wife Jody, four step-great-grandchildren, brothers; Gerry Stanley and wife Connie of Decatur, Galen Stanley and wife Patsy of St. Charles, Missouri, and Mark Stanley and wife Nancy of Decatur, and sister; Deborah Buxton and husband Robert of Decatur.
She was reunited in heaven with her parents, husband, and daughter Brenda Snow.
