Carol S. Whittington's Obituary
Carol Sue Whittington, 68, of Decatur passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2017 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Carol was born on July 28, 1949 in Decatur the daughter of Bobby and Mary Fern (McArthy) Krohn. She was a member of New Beginnings Church of God, worked at the Holiday Inn and later retired from ADM. She enjoyed the outdoors, reading and writing books. She loved her church family and playing with her grandchildren. She married Michael G. Whittington on March 15, 1969 in Macon.
Surviving are her husband, son, Michael “Craig” Whittington of Decatur; daughters, Denise Whittington-Noel (Jeffrey) of St. Louis, MO; Kristin Whittington-Wilson of Decatur; sisters, Judith Webb (David) of Decatur; Penny McLean of Peoria; Debbie Williams (Phil) of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren, Brandon Noel, Devin Barr, Haylee Wilson, Kayla Wilson, Olivia Wilson, Lily Wilson, and Ella Wilson; brother-in-law, Patrick Whittington; sisters-in-law, Cathy Thomas and Connie Kopp; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the nursing staff at DMH.
Service to Celebrate Carol’s life will be 10 AM Friday, September 29, 2017 in New Beginning Church of God with Pastor Mark Smith officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 PM Thursday in the church. Burial will be in Mt. Gilead Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Melanoma Research Foundation more specifically ocular melanoma.
