Carolyn Sue Etchison's Obituary
Decatur – Carolyn Sue Etchison, 80, of Decatur, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2024.
Carolyn was born on April 3, 1944, in Riverton, IL, the daughter of Ralph A. and Kathryn L. (Morris) Grossman. She worked in the fabric department at Walmart for 21 year and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Stonington, IL. Carolyn’s favorite phrase was “Oh Well.” She loved to crochet, crafting, camping, Cubs ballgames, work in the yard, and spend time with family especially Sunday dinners. She married Bud Etchison on March 22, 1991, in Decatur, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 5, 1997.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and several siblings.
Surviving are her children: Don Hodges and Donna Johnson of Decatur; grandchildren: Destynii and Kenneth Hodges; great grandchildren: James, Divinity, and Amari; brother, Jerry (Tracy) Grossman of MO; sisters: Joyce (Darrell) Church of Stonington, Sharon (Dick) Goers of Decatur, and Jane Downs of Oreana; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 21, 2024, from 11am until the service time of 1pm at the Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Long Point Cemetery, Niantic, IL.
