Carolyn Jean May's Obituary
Decatur-Carolyn Jean May, 67, of Decatur, passed away at 11:55 p.m. Saturday, November 9, 2013 in Decatur Memorial Hospital with her family by her side.
She was born January 31, 1946, in Decatur, the daughter of Thomas E. and Charlotte I. (David) Summar. She was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She enjoyed camping, sewing, quilting, traveling, and playing on the computer. She married Terence Gene May July 6, 1964 in Decatur.
She leaves behind her husband Terence, children Tim May and companion Taunia of Mt. Zion, Tammy (Brooks) Phillips of Ochlockonee Bay, Florida, and James May of Decatur, brother Thomas (Sherry) Summar of Roanoke, Virginia, twelve grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
She was reunited in Heaven with her parents and brother Ronald Summar.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Guaglianone, Dr. Sherwood, and the nurses and staff on the 5th floor at DMH for all of their loving care.
Memorial services to celebrate Carolyn’s life will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 13, 2013 in Calvary Southern Baptist Church, 1833 S. Country Club Road Decatur, with Pastor Mitch Flesch officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
