Carolyn Bea Jones' Obituary
In Loving Memory of Carolyn
Carolyn Bea Jones, 84, of Decatur, IL, passed away at 1:10 A.M. on Tuesday (04-22-2025) at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Carolyn was born on September 18, 1940, in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Charles Addison McGeorge and Dorothy Eileen (Eaton) McGeorge. She married Ola Jones on March 7, 2011, in Decatur, IL. He preceded her in death on April 28, 2015.
Carolyn dedicated many years of her life to hard work and family. She worked as a waitress at Tom’s Grill for many years, all while holding a position at SKS Engineering. Later in her career, she joined Illinois Power, and before retiring, she found joy in becoming a realtor.
While managing her career, Carolyn raised her two sons. Her love for life was reflected in her passions—gardening, boating, traveling, and above all, spending cherished time with family. She took great joy in organizing family events and especially loved making Christmas a magical and memorable time of year.
Carolyn's favorite hobbies included decorating and shopping, and she never missed a chance to cheer on her favorite baseball team, the St. Louis Cardinals—especially her favorite player, Yadier Molina, affectionately known as “her guy Yadi”.
Carolyn’s warmth, creativity, and dedication to her family leave behind beautiful memories.
She is survived by her two sons: Michael Scott Sullivan and wife Karla of Decatur, IL; and Martin Shane Sullivan and wife Sheryl of Decatur, IL; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three sisters: Sandra Cowgill of Redlands, CA; Beverly Walter of Decatur, IL; and Joy McGeorge of Casselberry, FL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one grandson.
