Carolyn Meyer's Obituary
Carolyn Meyer, 83, of Decatur passed away on Sunday (May 26, 2024) at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL. Carolyn was born on June 6, 1940, in Taylorville, IL, the daughter of Keith and Joyce (Young) Stivers. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Decatur, IL. She was in the first graduating class of Eisenhower High School in 1959 and began working at Caterpillar in Decatur where she met her husband John “Jack” Meyer. They were married on October 9, 1960, and celebrated 55 years of marriage together prior to his passing. She later worked at St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur.
More than anything, Carolyn enjoyed spending time with her children, five grandsons, two great granddaughters and her dog Ellie. She enjoyed being with her neighbors and friends.
Surviving are sons Ronald Meyer (Ruth) of Savoy, John Meyer (Mailanie) of Urbana; daughter Debra Koopman (Randy) of Hopkinton, MA, grandsons John Meyer, Jeremy Meyer, Zachary Meyer, Luke Meyer and Jacob Meyer, great granddaughters Lily and Delilah and sister, Tina Eschbaugh of Decatur, Il. She also leaves her beloved dog Ellie.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
The family would like to thank Joanie, Sharon and Barb who were such special friends and always there for her.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday (06-01-2024) at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service. The burial will be in Mt. Gilead Cemetery.
