Carolyn Lee Perkins' Obituary
Carolyn Lee Perkins, 91, of Decatur, Il died Sept 8th, 2024. She was born in Chicago, IL., on June 8th, 1933, to Wallace and Jean Fleming. She graduated from Stephen Decatur High School and Millikin University with a B.S. in education. She was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha at Millikin.
She taught at Mound Elementary and Parsons Grade School for 37 years. Her passion in life was teaching second graders and traveling after retirement. She was a member of the Decatur Area Retired Teachers Association, the American Association of University Women, and a member of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Decatur; where she served as a Reader, a Board Member, and helped with operations of the Reading Room each week. She was also a member of the The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, Boston.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Marjorie Wheeler, and sister Bess White. Leaving behind many who loved her dearly were a son John Wallace Perkins (Patti) of Pendleton, IN; a daughter Anita Jean Whitfield (Jeff) of Decatur, IL. Grandchildren Sean G Perkins (Emily) of Cicero, IN; Brandon L Whitfield (Joni) of Bethalto, IL; Lindsey J Hart (Colton) of Clearfield, UT; and six adorable great grandchildren Charli, Owen, Haislee, Beau, Reagan, and Lee.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday (09-13-2024) at Star of Hope Mausoleum, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Entombment will be at the Star of Hope Mausoleum.
