Carrol Sue Bray's Obituary
Carrol Sue Osborn Bray, 85, of Decatur, passed away on Friday, November 15, 2024 in Clinton.
She was born in Decatur on January 17, 1939, a daughter of the late Earl Oliver Osborn and Leah Evelyn Hart Wooley. She married Lewis Dean Bray in Decatur on May 25, 1956, sharing 66 years together until his death on July 12, 2022.
Carrol worked in welding and manufacturing at Caterpillar for a number of years, one of the first women to ever do so at the company. She had an incredible work ethic and dedication, something which she later instilled in her children. In her free time, she loved reading, playing cards, and board games. She also enjoyed having lunch with the other ladies from Caterpillar.
She was an incredible mother, both to her children and others in need. Carrol enjoyed caring for others, often going above and beyond with quiet grace. She was truly the family’s matriarch, and she will be deeply missed.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her two brothers and two sisters.
Those surviving include: her children, Terry (Lisa) Bray, Thomas (Pam) Bray, and Renee Burdick; grandchildren, Brian Williamson, Brad Williamson, Erica Bray, Lindsey Lawler, Sara Bray, and Katy Langhurst; and great-grandchildren, Brayson, Mason, Myles and Louis.
Visitation for Carrol Bray will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at Grace/Fairlawn Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest privately in Graceland Cemetery.
