Carter B. Kitson Jr.'s Obituary
Decatur-Carter B. Kitson, Jr., 70 of Decatur passed away 4:10 am Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at his residence with his family at his side.
Holy Communion Services to celebrate Carter's life will be 12 noon Thursday, March 17, 2011 at St. John's Episcopal Church at 130 W. Eldorado in Decatur, with Father Charles J. Reischman officiating. Visitation will be for thirty minutes prior to the services at the church. Family requests casual attire. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery and Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the United States Chess Federation or the American Heart Association. Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home is assisting the family with these arrangements. Carter was born August 17, 1940 in Decatur, the son of Carter Sr. and Juanita (Tabor) Kitson. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He graduated from Illiopolis High School in 1958. He was employed as a pipefitter with Plumber & Pipefitter's Local #65 retiring in 2003. He was a life time member of the NRA and avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. He married Jerriann Welch and later they divorced. He then married Linda Camden April 17, 1987. She preceded him in death.
He leaves behind his sons, Colley Kitson of Decatur and Robert W. Hansen of Indianapolis, brother, James Kitson and wife Barbara of Decatur, sister, Ann Price and husband Bud of Oakley, and grandchildren, Hannah, Michaela, Jason, Sarah, and Levi.
He was greeted in Heaven by his parents, wife Linda, and son, Jason.
Carter was a true family man and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Family will receive friends at Whit's End 3663 East William St. at 4:00 pm Thursday, March 17, 2011.
