Catherine Lynne Richert's Obituary
Catherine Lynne Richert, 66, of Decatur, IL, passed away on March 12, 2026, at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Decatur, IL, on October 21, 1959, to Floyd and Ethel Scranton. Cathy graduated from Macarthur High School and continued her education at Richland Community College. She married Mark Richert on June 30, 1990. Cathy was employed by Decatur Public Schools for 25 years. During retirement, she loved spending quality time with her grandchildren. Cathy also enjoyed traveling and following sports, especially the St. Louis Cardinals.
She is survived by her son, Keagan (Destinee) Richert; grandchildren, Brylee, Elsie, Myles, and Sylvie; mother, Ethel Scranton; brother/sister in-law, Michael Chervinko, Anne Richert, Wanda Rokosh (Fred), and Donnie Richert (Lyndi), and many nieces and nephews.
Cathy was preceded in death by her husband, Mark Richert; father, Floyd Scranton; sister, Lois Chervinko; grandson, Klay Richert; brother/sister in-law, Connie & Rusty Vording, and Terry Richert.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, from 5-8 PM at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at 10 AM at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Graceland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorial gifts to be made to St. Jude Research Hospital.
