Cecil E. Barbee's Obituary
Decatur-Cecil E. Barbee, 95, of Decatur, passed away at 12:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital.
Cecil was born November 10, 1915 in Shelby County, the son of Edward and Cora (Steele) Barbee. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during W.W. II. From 1952-1977 Cecil was a Chevrolet salesman for EL Bauer, Fehrenbach and Miles Chevrolet. He was honored as a member of the 100 Car Club for vehicles sold for many years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 105. Cecil married Louise Moreau December 15, 1940.
He leaves behind Louise, his beloved wife of over seventy years; son, Steven and wife Jeananne of Longwood, Florida; daughter, Carol Hazenfield and husband Phil of Decatur; grandchildren, Kelly Hazenfield of Decatur, Craig Hazenfield of Boston, MA, Eric and Ryan Barbee both of Longwood, FL. He also leaves a very special great grandson, Jack.
He was reunited in Heaven with his parents, two sisters and one brother.
Graveside services to celebrate Cecil's life will be 11 a.m. Saturday, February 19, 2011 at Graceland Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday, February 18, 2011 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to: Macon County Honor Guard or American Legion Post #105 Auxiliary Scholarship Fund.
