Cecil Carter,'s Obituary
Cecil Carter, Jr., 86, of Decatur, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2016 at Decatur Memorial Hospital, with his family by his side.
Cecil was born July 27, 1929, in Decatur, to Cecil Monroe and Mildred (Sorrell) Carter. He was a veteran of the Navy. He married Lois Virginia Primm on November 7, 1956 in Newport, Indiana. She passed November 14, 2008. Cecil was a truck driver for Teamster for many years. He was a member of the Masonic Temple Stephen Decatur Lodge # 979 and Sangamon Valley Shriners.
Cecil is survived by his son, Cecil “Lee” (Barbara) Carter of Decatur; one grandson, Colton Levi Bush; three brothers, Donald Carter of Decatur, John (Janice) Carter of Carmel, IN and Dwayne (Sue) Carter of SC; two sisters, Cleta Walker of Greenfield, IN and Reva (John) Denton of Mowequa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Lois; one grandson, Stanlee Carter and two sisters.
Services to celebrate the life Cecil Carter, Jr. will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 28, 2016 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2016, with masonic rites conducted at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Shriners Hospital for Children 2900 N. Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
