Cecil Carter's Obituary
Decatur-Cecil Carter Sr., 88, of Decatur, passed away Sunday, November 2, 2014 at Hickory Point Christian Village in Forsyth with his family by his side.
Cecil was born June 2, 1926 in London, Kentucky, the son of Charlie and Mary (Wilson) Carter. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in World War II. He retired from Kmart. Cecil was a member of the VFW and enjoyed fishing.
Cecil leaves behind his sons Michael Carter, Cecil Carter Jr., and Thomas (Wendy) Carter, daughters Kathy (Sam) Allen, Elizabeth (Gary) Speich, Rose (Donald) Matthews, grandchildren Ashley Matthews, Jenny Carter, Blake Carter, Robert Speich, TeJay Carter, Michael Carter, Justin Carter, Jonathon Carter, Sarah Carter, Nicholas Allen, Samantha Allen, and Lauren Allen, and great-grandchildren Jackson Carter and Benjamin Allen.
Cecil was preceded in death with his parents, brother Clifton Carter, and sister Vessie Carter.
Services to celebrate Cecil’s life will be 6 p.m. Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. prior to the services. Burial with military honors will be 10 a.m. Thursday, November 6, 2014 at Macon County Memorial Park. Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice.
