Decatur-Cecil Russell, 79, of Decatur, passed away at his home Thursday, August 12, 2010.
Services to celebrate Cecil’s life will be held 10 a.m. Monday, August 16, 2010 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday August 15, 2010 at the funeral home. Interment with “Flight Home” Ceremony will be at Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Cecil was born January 10, 1931 in Shelby County the son of Hyram and Mildred (Ritz) Russell. Cecil lived with the Fry family for over 50 years and was considered a father and grandfather to them all. Bill Tangney referred to Cecil as the Mayor of Sunnyside Road.
He leaves behind a brother; Robert Russell of Decatur, sister; Mary Alice Burnett of Decatur, and many nieces and nephews.
He was reunited in heaven with his parents and sister; Ruby.
