Decatur – Chacon Victor Gayles 56, of Decatur passed away at 4:15 pm on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 In Decatur Memorial Hospital with his family by his side.
Chacon was born on November 20, 1955 to Donald and WilliAnne (Brown) Gayles. He worked as a Maintenance man at Green Wood Apartments. Chacon lived life to the fullest and loved to laugh and play pranks on people. He loved to watch Jeopardy, cook, and work on cross word puzzles. Chacon will be missed by all who knew him.
Surviving is his loving wife Bernita Harrington of 13 years, sons Chacon Victor Fanning of Atlanta, GA, Tyshon Fanning of Decatur, Ronrico Berry of Manatee, MI, Ronnell Harrington of Decatur, and Robert Harrington of Decatur; daughters Nicole Wilson of Decatur and Reva Harrington of Battle Creek, MI, sisters, Vickie Booth of Decatur, Donna (Robert) Boclair of Minneapolis, MN, and Marguerite (Carl) Bracey of Chicago; brothers, Michael Daniels of Chicago and Donald (Yvonne) Gayles of Chicago; special aunt Cynthia Faulks of Waukegan, IL, special uncle Elder Kenneth (Muriel) Faulks of Chicago; special nephews Taurus and Eric Booth of Decatur, and a host Grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other loving family members and friends.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 3 brothers, 1 sister, and Grandmother Vivian Bohannon.
A Graveside service to celebrate Chacon's life will be at 1:00 PM Monday, August 13, 2012 in Graceland Cemetery and will conclude with the 'Flight Home' Ceremony. Memorials are suggested to Sickle Cell Disease association of America.
