DECATUR- Charles W. “Charlie” Bell, 82 of Decatur, passed away at 9:25 PM Saturday, September 28, 2013 in St. John’s Hospital, Springfield.
Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Charlie’s life will be held at 11 am on Saturday, October 5, 2013 in St. Patrick Catholic Church, with Father John Burnette as celebrant. Visitation will be held from 9 am until service time Saturday at the church. Arrangements are being handled by Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Pana. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to St. Patrick School.

Charlie was born on January 30, 1931 in Decatur, IL, a son of George W. and Thelma O. (Musgrove) Bell. He graduated from Decatur High School in 1950 and he was a retired tire builder and a forklift operator for Firestone Tire and Rubber Company after over 30 years of service, and was a proud member of U.R.W. Local 713. Charlie was a devout Catholic and a member of the Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree and 4th Degree Member of the Rev. Jeremiah Murphy Council where he was Past Faithful Navigator. He was a Khoury League baseball coach, and a devoted and lifelong fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. Go Redbirds! He was a member of Ss. James and Patrick Parish and an usher at St. Patrick Church. Charlie was a great husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He had numerous friends and was always making more. He was a good man. He cherished his family, faith and life. We will miss you, but never forget you. He married Wilma Eileen Mizeur on June 21, 1958.
Charlie is survived by his wife Wilma, sons- Patrick (Fernanda) Bell of St. Petersburg, FL and Philip Bell and his girlfriend Barbara of Henderson, NV, brothers- Bill Bell and wife Yvette of Ft. Myers, FL and Jerome Bell and wife Linda of Maroa, sisters- Juanita Peterson and husband Jim of Decatur and Theresa Bell of Decatur, beloved granddaughter- Anna Cain of St. Petersburg, FL., sisters-in-law- Mary Deck and husband Wilbur of CA., Kate Gipson and husband Ron of OR and Teresa Seitz of Decatur; cousin-in-law, Gene and Rosemary Huttes of Pana .
He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother- Betty Bell, youngest son- Tim, brother- Bob Bell, nephew- Jimmy Peterson, nieces- Marla Brewer and Lynnie Nixon, great nephew- Michael McMillion and brother in law and close friend- Chuck Seitz.
