Charles "Chuck" Leslie Bentley's Obituary
Charles “Chuck” Leslie Bentley, 62, of Decatur, IL passed away with his family by his side on August 24, 2023.
Chuck was born May 4, 1961 in Decatur, IL the son of Leslie and Helen (Myers) Bentley. He married Jan Eckart on October 11, 2001 in Decatur, IL.
Chuck was a veteran of the US Navy. Following his military service, he had worked as a millwright for Tate and Lyle, Primient.
Chuck was an avid outdoorsman and fisherman. He would often comb the outdoors, hunting mushrooms and wild asparagus. Other than the love of his family, one of his greatest loves was candy. He enjoyed candies of all types.
Surviving are his wife, Jan; children, Aaron Bentley of Decatur, IL, Jamie Durbin (Misti) of Decatur, IL, Jason Durbin (Elizabeth) of Mt. Zion, IL, Jeremy Durbin (Nichol) of Macon, IL, Samantha Bowdre of Decatur, IL, Jennifer Taylor of Bethany, IL, Jill Bell of Decatur, IL; brother, William “Bill” Bentley of Pawnee, IL; sister, Myra Kay of Decatur, IL; 20 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and nieces, Tamra Day of Rochester, IL and Lacie Nowakowski of Springfield, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, nephew, Tice “Ty” Sharp and sister in law, Lynn Bentley.
Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 9 – 10 AM Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery.
