Charles A. Bradley's Obituary
Charles A. Bradley, 86, of Decatur passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 in his home.
Charles was born on October 22, 1926 in Pana, IL the son of Charles and Catherine (Finnigan) Bradley. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy and was retired from A. E. Staley Manufacturing. He was a member and former secretary of the union at Staley's. He was a handyman, a Jack of all trades, Mr. Fix it, and there wasn't anything he couldn't fix. He enjoyed golf, Bingo, playing cards, and bowling. He loved to travel and go camping. He married Beverly Davis on June 11, 1950 in Decatur.
Surviving are his wife, Beverly; sons, Mark Bradley (Jan) of Decatur; Greg Bradley (Vicki) of Mt. Zion; Jeff Bradley of Decatur; daughter, Kathy Simpson (Mitch) of Oreana; sister, Margaret 'Peg' Herter of Springfield; 5 grandchildren; Jason Bradley (Inesa), Jamie Bradley, Corie Book (Keith), Dottie Bradley, and Gregg Simpson (Candy) and 8 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Billy Bradley, and two sisters, Mary Frances Swearingen and Elizabeth Schultz.
Funeral service to celebrate Charles life will be 10 AM Monday, March 25, 2013 in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 3-5 PM Sunday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Memorials are suggested to American Heart Association or DMH Hospice.
