Charles R. "Charlie" Pinnell's Obituary
Decatur – Charles Raymond “Charlie” Pinnell, 73, of Decatur, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at McKinley Court Care Centre in Decatur with his family by his side.
Charlie was born in 1941, the son of Charles and Clara (Terrell) Pinnell. He married Ruby Johnson on June 17, 1959. They were happily married for over fifty-six years.
Charlie was a skilled craftsman and master engraver his entire adult life. He worked for Wagner Memorial in Decatur for fifteen years, as well as owning his own monument company in Danville for ten years. He worked as master engraver and ground superintendent at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home and Cemeteries in Decatur retiring in November of 2014 with twenty-five years of faithful service.
Charlie was known for his happy smile, joyful outlook, zest for life, and keeping active. He very much enjoyed the company of family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Ruby Johnson Pinnell of Decatur; his daughter Millie Worley of Somonauk; his two grandchildren: Charles Worley and Aurora Worley; his great-grandson; and his sister Norma Williamson of Paris, IL.
Charlie’s family will receive family and friends during a reception to celebrate Charlie’s life from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, August 23, 2015 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Private family interment will take place at Graceland Cemetery. The family requests no flowers. They would prefer colorful balloons instead.
