Charles Forrest "Charlie" Kilzer's Obituary
Decatur – Charles Forrest “Charlie” Kilzer, 87, of Decatur, formerly of Macon, passed away Wednesday, December 04, 2024, at Imboden Creek Living Center.
Charlie was born on May 2, 1937, in Altamont, IL, the son of Walter and Blanche (Maddox) Kilzer. A US Army veteran and member of Macon United Methodist Church, Charlie worked as a machinist at Caterpillar for 30 years. He then went to work at Monsanto Seed Co. in Illiopolis for an additional 18 years. Charlie loved farming, helping farmers in Macon for many years. He also loved to square dance and had a great sense of humor. Charlie married Shirley Jean Laswell on April 14, 1984, in Macon, IL.
Surviving is his wife, Shirley of Decatur; children: Vicky (husband Jeff) Smith, Cindy (husband Robert) Boyle, and Allen (wife Kathy) Kilzer all of Decatur; stepdaughter, Dawn Brown of Decatur; seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and three sisters.
Visitation will be from 9 am until the service time of 11 am, Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at the Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Macon United Methodist Church.
