Charles E. Mathes' Obituary
Decatur-Charles E. Mathes, Jr., 55 of Decatur, passed away 8:05 am Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at his residence.
Services to celebrate Charles’ life will be 1:00 pm Friday, January 22, 2010 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home with Pastor Nick Harden officiating. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6 – 8 pm at the funeral home. Entombment will be in the Star of Hope Mausoleum in Graceland Cemetery, followed by Military Rites by the Macon County Honor Guard and concluding with the “Flight Home” ceremony. Charles was born March 4, 1954 in Butte, Montana the son of Charles, Sr. and Rosie L. (Skinner) Mathes. Charles proudly served his country in the U.S. Marines. He was employed for over eighteen years as a machine operator for Purity Bakery.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories his mother Rosie Smith of Decatur; his son Christopher Mathes of Peoria, IL; his daughter Michelle (husband – Richard) Jones of Bloomington, IL; one sister Charlene (husband – Joseph) Van Vleet of Bement, IL; two grandchildren, two nieces and two nephews.
Charles was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Lonnie Mathes.
