Charles Wayne "Poppy" Head's Obituary
Charles “Poppy” Wayne Head, Sr. 63, of York, South Carolina formerly of Decatur, Illinois, passed away on Friday, February 02, 2018 peacefully at home.
Born in Decatur, IL, Charles was the son of the late Edward Head and Margaret Franklin Head. He was a medic in the US Army and also served as a sharp shooter while stationed in Germany.
Charles is survived by his wife of 11 years, after the longest engagement ever (21 years), Dawn Prather Head, daughter, Kimberly Snoke (Harry), son, Charles Wayne Head II (Ashley), brothers, Johnny Head, David Head, sister, Doris Kater, grandchildren, Christina, Josh, Amber, David, Mersaydes, “Poppy’s Girls”, and his loving dog, Baebi Gurl.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his brother, Roy Head, and sister, Sue Head.
Services to celebrate Charles’ life will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Family requests casual attire. Burial with military honors will be at Fairlawn Cemetery in Decatur. Memorials may be made to Hospice Care of South Carolina at 1639 Ebenezer Rd. Rock Hill, SC 29732 or to the family at PO Box 340 York, SC 29745.
