Charles V. Riggins' Obituary
Charles V. Riggins, 95, of Decatur passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2013 in Fairhaven’s Christian Home.
Charles was born on October 6, 1917 in Moweaqua, IL the son of Charles T. and Lela (Corzine) Riggins. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army. He was a retired Foreman in the composing room at the Herald & Review. He was a member of the AMVETS, VFW, the American Legion, and First Christian Church of Moweaqua. In his younger years he enjoyed Camping and fishing and was a member of the Soy City Campers Association. He married Ruth Angela Willis on December 25, 1941 in Palmyra, MO. She preceded him in death on November 17, 2008.
Surviving are his daughters, Susan Burckhartt (Fred) of Moweaqua; Becky Lindsay (Mark) of Lutz, FL; brother, Leland Riggins (Janet) of Monticello; grandchildren, Jason Burckhartt (Joni) of Olney; Julie Tamburrino (Chris) of Bolingbrook; Jody Braundmeier (Chad) of Moweaqua; Christopher Ware of North Carolina; Shelby Lindsay of Lutz, FL; and great-grandchildren, Josiah, Jadon, Jonas, Julia, Jade, Tyler, Brooke, and Chaz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one brother, Forrest Riggins.
The family would like to thank the staff of Fair Haven’s Christian Home and Safe Harbor Hospice for all their Care.
Funeral service to celebrate Charles’ life will be 11 AM Monday, August 26, 2013 in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home with Pastor Jason Burckhartt officiating. Visitation will be 10-11 AM Monday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard and conclude with the “Flight Home” ceremony. Memorials are suggested to Fair Haven’s Christian Home Activity Fund.
