Charles Buxton Spaugh's Obituary
Decatur – Charles Buxton Spaugh, 88, of Lincoln, went to be with Jesus at 11:40 pm Thursday, April 8, 2010 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Services to celebrate Charles’ life will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, April 12, 2010 at Resurrection Life Church in Decatur with Pastor James McGee and Reverend Roger Spaugh officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm Sunday, April 11, 2010 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Interment will be at Graham Chapel Cemetery in Allenville, Illinois. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Tupelo Children’s Mansion in Tupelo, Mississippi or to the United Pentecostal Church of Virden. Charles was born September 13, 1921 in Allenville, Illinois, the son of William and Gertrude (Buxton) Spaugh.
He was a WW II veteran serving with the U.S. Army in Germany as a machine gunner in the 104th infantry. He was a fireman on the Wabash Railroad, a contractor and realtor.
He will be sadly missed by his wife Judith E. Hackney Spaugh of Lincoln. His children Richard of Girard, Charles Jr. of Lincoln, Roxanne Williams of Springfield, David of Decatur, Rhonda (Joe) Morley of St. Louis, MO, Julia (James) McGee of Virden, Roger (Elizabeth) of St. Louis, MO, Carrie (Rick) Orth of Burlington, Iowa, sister Audrey (Sam) White of Parawan, Utah, brothers David (Colleen) and Dwight (Lucille) of Decatur, John (Darlene) of Warsaw, MO, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
He was reunited in heaven with his parents, sons Ronald and Mike, daughter Sandra Tornabeni, two grandsons William Russell Spaugh and John Allen McGee.
