Charles Campbell Woodard's Obituary
Charles Campbell Woodard, 97, of Decatur, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2017, at Tanglewood Village in Decatur.
Charles was born June 21, 1919, in Jasper County, IL, to Ralph W. and Lillie V. (Elliott) Woodard. He proudly served in the United States Army during WWII, Italy and North Africa. During his service he was awarded the purple heart. He married Lois E. Pfeifer on November 24, 1945, in Decatur. She passed away August 22, 2004. He was a member of Second Church of God.
He is survived by his three children; Gary W. (Nancy) Woodard of Nevada, TX, Sandra E. Kuhn of Naples, FL and Judy I. (Jim) Herlein of Columbia, MO; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and one sister, Dorothy Weber of Mattoon, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lois; son-in-law, Stephen Kuhn; three brothers, Austin, Ralph, and Elmer Woodard; and two sisters, Rosemary Morris and Audrey Dart.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Charles Woodard will be 1 p.m. Saturday, March 4, 2017, at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday before the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Memorials may be directed to the Macon County Honor Guard.
