Charlotte Ann Browning's Obituary
Charlotte Ann (Chan) Browning, 81, of Decatur, IL passed away October 6, 2014 at 6:45 pm in Decatur Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.
She was born March 7, 1933 in Decatur to George Franklin and Sylvia Regina (Pierson) Hirst. She graduated from Decatur High School class of 1951. She married John Browning in 1951. She worked for the DPS #61 and then Aramark in the lunch room at Garfield and Brush College schools.
A service will be held to honor her life Thursday, October 9, 2014 at 3:00 pm at New Beginnings Church of God, 2606 Illinois 121 NW Decatur. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Her wishes were to be cremated.
Surviving are her children, Vicki Jones of Decatur and John (Melody) Browning of Lincoln; grandchildren, Cory Jones, Jason (Sarah) Jones of Decatur, Lindsay Browning of Mattoon, Chelsay (Brandon) Endres of Fort Campbell, KY, and Macey Browning of Lincoln; five great-grandchildren; sister, Roberta Hathorne; nieces, Jean (John) Mikels and Linda (Dave) Scianimanico; a host of great nieces and nephews; and her special dog Katie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, MaryLou Glazebrook, a nephew, Mark Glazebrook, and niece, Janet Hathorne.
The family would like to thank McKinley Court, especially CNA Rebecca and the nurses of DMH 4100, especially Chrissy, along with DMH hospice for the loving care at the end of her life.
Our Mom loved Christmas and always made it special for her family with emphasis for the children. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the New Beginnings Church of God for the Angel Tree.
